From college drop out to space travel

Charlton dropped out of college after one year because he didn’t know exactly what he wanted to do with his life. What he did know was that he wanted to make a difference.  He wanted to create something…and it was going to have to be extraordinary.  After the short college experience, Charlton spent two months in Uganda trying to find his purpose. 

It was like going back in time to the 1920s or so, since it wasn’t as developed as the United States is today.  But it was there that the entrepreneurial spirit was spurred to life.  He began to see problems all around him that he honestly felt he could solve.  Charlton opened a taxi business which ran successfully for several years.  After returning to the U.S., Charlton eventually got married, had a few kids, and started a tax business. While this new venture broke even in its inaugural year, he sold it quickly because he knew he didn’t like it enough to keep it going long-term. 

Then, in 2017, Charlton discovered crypto and he was hooked.  He immediately went “all in”, but after a devastatingly hard financial lesson, where he lost about 95% of his net worth, he decided he might need to learn a thing or two about how to trade, instead of just guessing.  It took nearly three years to get back to where he had been before the loss, but he gained valuable knowledge and insight during that time.  Still, he wasn’t satisfied because he felt the need to create something.  Eventually, with the help of his brother, the Bad Astro Society project with NFTs was born!

What exactly are NFTs?

NFTs, or Non-Fungible Tokens, are unique digital assets that represent ownership of a specific item, such as a piece of art, music, or video. NFTs are built on blockchain technology, which allows them to be securely stored, tracked, and transferred between individuals, without the need for intermediaries. This creates a system where the ownership of digital assets can be easily and transparently verified, leading to a new era of digital collectibles and ownership.

NFTs are “non-fungible” because they cannot be exchanged for other tokens or items of equal value. Each NFT is unique and has its own distinct value, which is determined by factors such as its rarity, desirability, and authenticity. This makes NFTs particularly suitable for digital art and collectibles, as they provide a way for creators to monetize their work and for collectors to own and display unique pieces of digital art.

The use of NFTs is rapidly expanding, with new applications being discovered in fields such as gaming, fashion, sports, space travel, and more. NFTs offer a way for content creators to monetize their work, and for collectors to invest in and display unique digital assets. This has the potential to disrupt traditional business models and create new opportunities for artists and entrepreneurs.

NFTs, however, are still a relatively new technology, and there are ongoing discussions about their potential impact on the environment, as well as their potential for misuse. Despite these challenges, NFTs are a promising and exciting new frontier, and their future is likely to be shaped by the creativity, innovation, and cooperation of the individuals and communities that use them.

Everyday people in space?  

Everyday people traveling to space is becoming a reality as commercial space travel companies are now making it possible. It was once only feasible for astronauts and government agencies to go to space, but now, with companies like SpaceX and Virgin Galactic, regular citizens have the opportunity to experience space travel too.

Space tourism is still in its early stages and is currently available only to the ultra-rich as the cost of a ticket is quite high, with prices starting at several hundred thousand dollars. However, as the industry matures, it’s probable that the cost may come down and make space travel more accessible to the general public.

The experience of traveling to space would be an unforgettable one, with breathtaking views of the Earth and the stars, as well as the thrill of weightlessness and the experience of being an astronaut. For those who have always dreamt of traveling to space, this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to live out their childhood fantasies.

Therefore, it’s essential for companies offering space travel to prioritize the safety of their customers and ensure that they are adequately prepared for the dangers of space.

This strategy can help to minimize the risk of investing a large sum of money into a single investment and instead, spread the investment over a period of time.
