Godly Wisdom for Traders: Embracing Biblical Trading

15 Price Action Patterns Insiders are Using If a hedge fund managers were using 15 specific price action patterns would you want to know?

Is trading ok with God? Is biblical trading possible? Is forex trading a sin? Is trading stocks a sin?

These are good questions that perhaps some wrestle with or have questions about. Letโ€™s examine Biblical Trading. Our first and last stop will be The Bible (all quotations are from the Authorized King James Version of the Holy Bible). There is nothing like the Scriptures to clear up our understanding.

The word โ€œtradeโ€ appears 5 times in the scriptures. It is in reference to a personโ€™s occupation. As traders, our job is to provide liquidity to the markets at times that someone else may be in pain. We are good Samaritans in a sense because we are helping another trader who was long a particular currency pair and it has unfortunately pulled back against him on a (letโ€™s say) 15 minute chart and is making a buy setup after multiple bars run down.

We are providing a service in saying, โ€œI am sorry that is causing you pain, let me help youโ€ฆ I shall take that off of your hands.โ€ Then we are patient and it runs up a bunch of bars. We scale out of that position with a profit. We are traders and we get PAID for this service.

First stop shall be the โ€œProverbs 31โ€ woman. Now if God loves a virtuous woman (vs10) and her price is FAR above rubies, then surely God loves a virtuous man too. For God is no respecter of persons.ย  Letโ€™s look at just some of her highly praised qualities. Vs. 13 says she โ€œworks willingly with her hands.โ€ Vs. 15 says that she will work at night to provide meat for her household. (it is OK to stay up and trade the Asian session.) Vs.27 says that she does not eat the bread of idleness (she is not lazy).ย  The whole chapter speaks of her buying and selling and getting gain. She is making good business deals. She carefully considers land and buys it. She is PRAISED for doing a good job of providing for her family.

Godโ€™s type of person is explained in this chapter.

Here is a quote from Proverbs 6:6-11. It is a warning to us all.
Pr 6:6ย  Go to the ant, thou sluggard; consider her ways, and be wise:

7 Which having no guide, overseer, or ruler,
8 Provideth her meat in the summer, and gathereth her food in the harvest.
9 How long wilt thou sleep, O sluggard? when wilt thou arise out of thy sleep?
10 Yet a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep:
11 So shall thy poverty come as one that travelleth, and thy want as an armed man.

Here God tells us that we better not be lazy, but get ourselves up and get to work at the RIGHT times. Notice the ant is not slothful but works while it is the proper time. If we are slothful about trading at the right times we will not make our money to provide food and shelter for our families. It is perfectly OK to wake up and trade the London session if you feel the need.

Pr 22:29 Seest thou a man diligent in his business? he shall stand before kings; he shall not stand before mean men.

Here we see God wants us to be diligent in whatever business we are engaged in. I preach this daily in the trading room. FOCUS, Patience, and Discipline.
Here is a somber warning to us all:

Mt 25:14ย  For the kingdom of heaven is as a man traveling into a far country, who called his own servants, and delivered unto them his goods.

15 And unto one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one; to every man according to his several abilities; and straightway took his journey.
16 Then he that had received the five talents went and TRADED with the same, and made them other five talents.
17 And likewise, he that had received two, he also GAINED other two.
18 But he that had received one went and dug in the earth, and hid his lordโ€™s MONEY.
19 After a long time the lord of those servants cometh, and reckoneth with them.
20 And so he that had received five talents came and brought other five talents, saying, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me five talents: behold, I have gained beside them five talents more.
21 His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.
22 He also that had received two talents came and said, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me two talents: behold, I have gained two other talents beside them.
23 His lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.
24 Then he which had received the one talent came and said, Lord, I knew thee that thou art an hard man, reaping where thou hast not sown and gathering where thou hast not strawed:
25 And I was afraid, and went and hid thy talent in the earth: lo, there thou hast that is thine.
26 His lord answered and said unto him, Thou wicked and slothful servant, thou knewest that I reap where I sowed not, and gather where I have not strawed:
27 Thou oughtest therefore to have put my money to the exchangers, and then at my coming, I should have received mine own with usury.
28 Take therefore the talent from him, and give it unto him which hath ten talents.
29 For unto every one that hath shall be given, and he shall have abundance: but from him, that hath not shall be taken away even that which he hath.

Here we have an amazing parable of the good diligent servants who went forth and took the God-given abilities that they had and put them to use and GAINED. The subject is on MONEY (see verse 27). The Lord commanded the men that gained and said WELL DONE and chastened the one who was slothful (lazy) by taking away what he had and giving it to another. He finishes the parable with the statement that everyone who does good with what they have will receive rewards by getting MORE.ย  (Folksโ€ฆ Pleaseโ€ฆ. I know what this is all about DOCTRINALLY but we are applying it to TRADINGโ€ฆ OK? )

Lu 16:11 If therefore ye have not been faithful in the unrighteous mammon, who will commit to your trust the true riches?ย  Here God clearly says unto us all that if we are not faithful in simply dealing with MONEY, why should we get the true riches?ย  Also read aboutย the Forex Mentors and the best investment you can make.

Is Forex trading a sin?

My friends, I could go on and on and on about this, the Bible is chock full of scriptures regarding this subject. For the sake of brevity I am leaving out so much, or I would write a book here. These are just a few examples. Consider Joseph who was sold into slavery, by his wicked brothers. He spent YEARS as a slaveโ€ฆ but God blessed him with WISDOM in how to handle money, goods etcโ€ฆ and he rose quickly because everything he touched turned to Gold.ย  Later God promoted him to great honor by placing him directly under Pharaoh as the second in command of the whole land.

King Solomon did similarly. His kingdom was huge. People came from far and wide to check him out because his rule was so awesome and all the people in the land were so happy. With all this money and power comes a great responsibility to be Godly, to be kind, merciful, giving, etcโ€ฆ and so on but I will leave that for Churchโ€ฆ because we need to stick to our subject. Is Trading an acceptable occupation?ย  I think so.ย  I can see NOTHING in the scriptures to say otherwise. It is an occupation, it is hard work, it requires much of a person. It is an absolutely awesome way for us to all earn a living from the comfort of our homes, not having to go and be someone elseโ€™s slave. Being able to work when and where we want. It can provide you and your family with a great provision of food, raiment and more.

You can have more abundance to be able to give to others that may have a need.ย  Now for clarification, I must include this as well, money is not supposed to be our GOD, we are not supposed to be greedy our covetous about it. We are not supposed to STRIVE to become rich.ย  We are just supposed to be happy making a good paycheck and providing for our families. We must keep our priorities in check and not forget who our God really is.
Ec 3:13 And also that every man should eat and drink, and enjoy the good of all his labor, it is the gift of God.

Do you see that enjoying the fruit of your labors is a GIFT of God?

James 1:17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.
IF God has endued you with a good ability to trade IF you are doing your best to hone it and become a great trader day by day IF you have this chance to take your time and MAKE this trading workโ€ฆ. Rejoice in this perfect gift from above.ย  Please see my last article on โ€œIs trading gamblingโ€ย  I truly want you, my trader friends, to be completely at peace with this. We cannot afford to have psychological demons in the back of our minds haunting us.

I know some people have a problem with Forex Trading and The Bible. It will work against you if you do not have it clear in your head that this is perfectly Biblical trading is OK with God. This is the reason for this article, not onlyย Forex Trading and the Bible. It is not said that Forex trading is a sin.ย If you are recently unemployed and looking for a great way to โ€œsemi-retireโ€ this business of trading could be for you too. Thanks for reading and till next time. Happy trading.ย  Michael Storm aka Robinhood.

  1. Great!!!โ€™ I LOVE Trading! Itโ€™s a GOD given opportunity for me, I agree that Trading is not gambling, But It Can Be If You Have No Knowlege of the Market. And No Strategy..

  2. Thank you so much for your clear explanation! now Iโ€™m not guilty any more, Iโ€™m just a beginner and Iโ€™m wondering if it is a gamble or not. Iโ€™ts clear to me now and I will be trading with no guilt from God since He blessed and He will give me wisdom to do it well and be able to share my blessings in the future if He permits me to succeed.

  3. A very good article. Very informative and useful. I do not feel guilty trading. We should use money to help others.
    Thanks very much

  4. Thank you for this article. My mind is cleared up and more evidence is given to me for trading. Thee more and more i read this article the more my eyes are opened to an abundance of revelations.

    Thank you very much.

  5. Proverb 7 vs 22. Thought it talks about stock. I believe the two share same outlook when it comes to success. We know people loose their capital when trading correction unlike trading the impulse. Look for impulse is the key to success in the business. That is why it is often said, โ€œThe trend is your friendโ€.
